How long have you been a member of The WICT Network? Almost 5 years now. 3.5 in the South Ohio Chapter and 1.5 in the New York Chapter

Who is a great (woman) leader/mentor you have had in your career? I have been so lucky to have multiple great women leaders and mentors throughout my career. However, my current Director and friend, Stephanie Revis, is one of my most significant mentors. Steph was my first manager when I started working in tech, and she immediately and cheerfully helped guide me into learning an entirely new professional world. She has always done so much to help me grow personally and professionally, and I owe her so much of my confidence and success. Whether it was encouraging me to talk to strangers at networking events or developing my professionalism in speaking with leadership, Steph is the one who always encouraged me to push myself beyond what I ever thought I would be capable of.

Tell us a little about yourself: Family, Hobbies, Favorite vacation spot, etc. I live in Stratford, CT with my mother and a very sweet Yorkie, Jake. Is it weird to call organizing a hobby? If not, I love sorting things - there is something very peaceful about taking clutter and putting it in the right spot. In my downtime, my favorite thing to do is lounge around and read fiction or watch true crime documentaries. I enjoy traveling, and my favorite vacation spot is in the mountains. One of my favorite things to do when I travel is wander off the beaten path and get lost in a new city or town. I have found some of the most interesting people and heard some amazing stories by leaving the touristy areas and just walking toward something interesting.

What The WICT Network programs and events have you participated in? The WICT Network has such diverse programs and events, there’s always going to be something for everyone. Since they make it so easy and interesting, I have participated in every The WICT Network event I could, from the Tech it Out webinars to all the professional development webinars on positioning yourself for success. One of my favorite webinars that The WICT Network hosts is Ladies Get Paid. Women tend not to be as comfortable negotiating pay and salary. These events give real women advice and feedback on becoming more comfortable and confident and asking for what we are worth.

Anything else you’d like to share? I am a very new board member for the New York chapter this year, and I wanted to thank my fellow board chairs for being so welcoming and helpful. The WICT Network is so different from other organizations because of the high level of thoughtful care they put into everything they provide for members. As a last note, the Leadership Conference is one of the most rewarding events I have ever attended through The WICT Network and I highly encourage anyone who can attend to do so.
